About
tofu is a Toronto AI hiring company founded in late 2022 by Jason Zoltak and Jonathan Perez. It does two connected things: an AI resume review product that screens thousands of applicants in minutes, and a shared talent network built from the by-product of that screening — strong candidates who reached late interview stages at one company without getting an offer, made visible to other companies hiring for similar roles. It closed CA$1.2 million in pre-seed funding in early March 2024 on a SAFE, led by Night Capital with Garage Capital, Wayfinder Ventures, Ritual Capital and angel Deva Santiago participating. Zoltak told the TechTO stage in December 2024 that around 340 companies were on the platform, and that the round came out of a weekly email he had written to friends, family and investors since the beginning.
