At the start of a tech company the technology's ninety percent of the investment and the people are ten percent. But to commercialize and make any money it quickly changes — the people and the market and the customers become 90%, and the technology becomes about 10%.
You're always updating your pitch deck and you're always trying to tell a new story every time you go out. Well, it gets really confusing. It's like telling yourself lies — and having to remember the lies that you told all these people.
One of the things I didn't know that I should do as a founder was to stay true to my course. With money came board seats, and with board seats came advice on how I should run the business. You do feel obligated to follow the guidance even if they're not experts in the industry.
