Did Kerry Liu co-found Rubikloud?
Yes. TechCrunch reported on November 18, 2013, when the company raised a $1 million seed round led by Horizons Ventures, that "Rubikloud was founded by Kerry Liu, Daniel Theirl, and Frank Thomas, three entrepreneurs in Toronto." Kinaxis's acquisition announcement of June 15, 2020 quotes him as Rubikloud's CEO: "We founded Rubikloud with the belief that purpose-built AI could be used to solve some of the most complex industry problems."
What happened to Rubikloud?
BetaKit reported on June 15, 2020 that Ottawa-based Kinaxis was buying Rubikloud for $81.4 million CAD (US$60M in cash). Kinaxis announced on July 2, 2020 that it had closed the deal and welcomed "Kerry Liu and the Rubikloud team" into the company.
What is his role today?
HZO's leadership page, checked September 23, 2026, says he "is a venture investor at Horizons Ventures" and a board director or observer at HZO, Syzygy, Fleet Aerospace, H2Pro and ZeroAvia. The same page says that before Horizons he was on Kinaxis's executive management team, in charge of global product management and corporate development, and that he lives in Toronto.
What did he do before Rubikloud?
In an AiThority interview published July 18, 2018, he said that before Rubikloud he led the channel sales team at Strangeloop Networks, a web performance company acquired by Radware. HZO's leadership page, checked September 23, 2026, says he is a graduate of the University of British Columbia.
