Who is Konrad Walus?
A co-founder of Aspect Biosystems, the Vancouver bioprinting company. Innovation UBC's June 2025 spotlight on Aspect lists him as co-founder, and UBC Engineering reported in July 2018 that Walus and his team, including Sam Wadsworth, Tamer Mohamed and Simon Beyer, formed Aspect Biosystems Ltd. in November 2013 to commercialize their research.
What was Konrad Walus's role at Aspect Biosystems?
Aspect Biosystems' May 2016 release says he served as chief executive for the company's first two years and became chief technology officer effective May 3, 2016, when Tamer Mohamed took over as president and CEO. Aspect's about page, checked in September 2026, does not list him on the leadership team, so no current Aspect title is published here.
How did Aspect Biosystems come out of Konrad Walus's research?
UBC Engineering reported in July 2018 that Walus had been exploring unconventional uses for printers since 2006. It said entrepreneurship@UBC suggested the team take its Lean Launch Pad accelerator, and that the company's first focus was tissue printing technology for drug testing and development.

UBC's Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering lists him on its faculty page, checked in September 2026, and his research there covers nanotechnology in electronic devices and inkjet micropatterning.
