In their words

Think about maybe doing that unscalable thing digging into the messy the hard work of fixing a human problem. And maybe the opportunity will be further down the road. But if you do that work now, it might really pay dividends in the long run.

Building meaningful retreats is something that doesn't really happen by accident.

Quick answers

Why did Flok's founders sell?

Delavari told TechTO the two MIT-grad founders built a retreat-planning tool, but clients kept asking for help with the retreats themselves. The services side made a million dollars in the first year with no outbound sales, and the founders were running a business they had not set out to build.

What changed after Delavari took over?

Flok went tech-first to service-first. Software became the supporting layer while the company dug into why a company is holding a retreat at all, not just the logistics.

Does Delavari want to scale?

Yes, but he told the TechTO audience he is not sure it will be a tech-first scale — after 25 years in group travel his view is that the human complexity of these events may not be something software solves.
