About

Flok began in 2020 as software to take the logistics of a company retreat off an internal planner's desk. Founders Harris Stolzenberg and Jared Hanson went through Y Combinator's Winter 2021 batch, but clients kept asking for help running the retreats rather than just tooling to plan them — the services side made a million dollars in its first year with no outbound sales. The founders sold about two years in. Meraj Delavari, a 25-year corporate events and group travel operator, and his partner bought the company and flipped it tech-first to service-first, with software in a supporting role. Delavari described the whole arc on the TechTO stage in December 2025.

Backers

Y Combinator (W21) under its original founders. It has since changed hands to Meraj Delavari and his business partner; the terms were not disclosed and no investor is publicly named post-sale.

Quick answers

Is Flok a software company?

Not any more, by its CEO's own description. Delavari told TechTO that Flok went tech-first to service-first after he bought it, with software supporting the work rather than being the product.

Why did the original founders sell?

They had built a planning tool and ended up running a services business they never intended, which left them no time on the technology they wanted to build. They put the company up for sale about two years in.

Where is Flok based?

Y Combinator lists New York for its founding team; it is now led from Toronto by CEO Meraj Delavari. The company does not publish a head office address.
