About
Culinary Adventure Co. runs guided eating tours — Kensington Market, Chinatown, the Distillery, Leslieville and beyond — plus private and corporate culinary experiences. It was founded in 2010; Kevin Durkee bought it in 2013 and closed his restaurant, Cheesewerks, to run it full time. The business rode a broader shift Durkee described from the TechTO stage: travellers now plan trips around markets and restaurants rather than museums, and roughly a third of travel spending goes on food. The company holds Ontario's Culinary Tourism Experience Award (2012), Canada's Signature Experience designation (2013) and nine consecutive TripAdvisor Certificates of Excellence, and says it is family-owned and operated.
