Quick answers

What is Mike Masterson's role at Supermoon Capital?

Managing partner and co-founder. Supermoon's own site, checked 2026-10-13, lists him as Managing Partner, and the firm's launch release of 2021-08-25 named him, Pat Connolly and Grayson Judge as co-founders and managing partners.

What does he look for in founders?

Three things, he told TechTO in October 2026: whether the founder can sell a team, customers and capital; whether this could be the category-defining team in five years; and whether he wants to talk to them regularly. He also asks founders to raise problems early.

What did he do before Supermoon?

Supermoon's site lists him as a vice-president at Bay City Capital and a co-founder of Sutter Post Advisors, and describes him as a co-founder of Nevro, the medical device company that went public in 2014. Nevro's own IPO filing names no founders, so that last credit rests on his firm's account.

Why sleep?

He said on the TechTO stage that partner Pat Connolly, after nearly four decades at Williams-Sonoma, noticed fast growth in anything bedroom-related, and that he has severe sleep apnea himself. Supermoon's first fund was US$36 million, announced 2021-08-25 with ResMed among its investors.
