About
Supermoon's premise is that sleep is a very large market that has been little studied and less invested in. Co-founder Mike Masterson told TechTO in October 2026 that the idea came from partner Pat Connolly, who spent nearly four decades at Williams-Sonoma and saw fast growth in anything bedroom-related, around the time Whoop, Oura and the Apple Watch arrived. The firm says it is accelerating innovation in sleep and circadian health, and backs founders from software, hardware and life sciences.
The firm launched publicly on 25 August 2021 with a first fund of US$36 million and ResMed, the sleep apnea device maker, as a named investor. Masterson said on stage that the partners had started work in 2019, that the largest strategic investor in sleep joined at the first fund's final close, and that Supermoon recently held a first close on its second fund; no second fund has been announced in writing.
Supermoon is not a Canadian firm. It appears here because Masterson spoke on the TechTO stage.
Backers
ResMed is the named investor in the US$36 million first fund (launch release, 2021-08-25). Other limited partners are not disclosed.
