Who is Mike Onorati?
A co-founder of Houndr, the Toronto neighbour-to-neighbour dog-care app. Amy Bath introduced the two of them as its co-founders at the start of their TechTO demo in April 2019, and CBC reported in May 2018 that she founded the company with her partner Onorati. No current role is published here because none could be verified from a first-party source.
Why did they start Houndr?
CBC reported in 2018 that the couple, who lived in Liberty Village and both worked full time, kept running into situations where they had nobody to ask for help with their chocolate lab. Houndr was their answer: a way to ask vetted neighbours for a walk or a sit when an owner is running late, stuck at work or dealing with an emergency.
What was his part in the TechTO demo?
He ran the app. While Bath narrated, Onorati filled in a request for their dog on screen — the day, a flexible time window and a note — and sent it out, pushing through a couple of dropped screen connections along the way.
How did Houndr handle trust between strangers?
In the TechTO Q&A the founders said reviews were mandatory at the end of every session, running both ways, and that neighbours could also vouch for one another. They said each helper could look after at most two dogs at once, and that any accident was, under the terms, a matter between the owner and the neighbour, since the early-stage company offered no insurance.
