In their words

Somebody reviews every single application. Somebody will review any cold email that is sent to us. I probably shouldn't be saying this, but honestly, you find diamonds in the rough all the time.

Some people just don't have access. They don't have the networks to get in. So as a VC we're trying to broaden our horizons and say, yeah, we're going to look at cold emails and cold applicants and put more weight on those.

We pushed a lot of information at you, we pushed a lot of programming at you when we first invested, and now it's up to you to pull stuff out of us.

Quick answers

What does Neha Khera invest in?

Deep tech at pre-seed and seed. She leads Innovobot Resonance Ventures in Montreal, which plans 25 to 30 investments across AI, robotics, IoT and advanced materials, having joined as managing partner in April 2025.

Does a cold email to a VC actually get read?

At 500 Startups it did. She told TechTO that every application and every cold email was reviewed by someone, and that the firm deliberately weighted cold applicants because founders new to a country or outside the usual networks have no other way in.

What does she expect from founders after investing?

That they pull rather than wait. Her line to portfolio companies was that the firm pushes information and programming at the moment of investment, and from then on it is the founder's job to ask for what they need.
