Did Peter Carrescia co-found Qui Identity?
Yes. BetaKit reported on August 4, 2022 that Carrescia and Kirk Simpson had raised $6.5 million CAD for Qui, captioning their photo "Qui co-founders (from left) Peter Carrescia and Kirk Simpson". The Globe and Mail's story the same day called the pair "co-founders of Qui" and said Carrescia "heads business development and strategy for Qui".
What did he do before Qui?
Venture investing and a senior role at Wave. BetaKit reported on August 4, 2022 that he was "an early Wave investor as a founding member of OMERS Ventures alongside John Ruffolo", left OMERS in 2012, led NEXT Canada, joined Wave in 2016 as senior vice-president of strategy and corporate development, then became a venture partner at Information Venture Partners. The same article says he holds computer science and business degrees.
What became of Qui Identity?
It changed names and products. A SAAS NORTH article dated August 6, 2025 describes Carrescia as "Co-Founder of goConfirm (formerly Confirm & originally Qui Identity)". The goConfirm site, checked September 23, 2026, says "Effective October 1, 2025, the goConfirm app is no longer available for use", that the team has "recently launched Courtyard AI", and carries the line "Courtyard AI Inc. (previously Confirm Identity Inc.)".
Where has he spoken about innovation policy?

The episode page, dated March 20, 2023, introduces him as "a successful innovator and investor" who had written a Globe and Mail op-ed questioning whether a push for more patents helps Canadian startups, and says he discussed government policy "that may be mistaking an IP policy for an innovation one".
