Quick answers
Did Tim Abdulla co-found Rise People?
Yes. The BC Tech Association's "Spotlight on Paysavvy" (2015-05-13) names "the founders Faiz Abdulla (CEO), Wisam Abdulla (COO) and Tim Abdulla (CTO)" and says Paysavvy was founded on October 26, 2011. BetaKit (2014-03-25) likewise describes the company as co-founded by "father and CEO Faiz Abdulla, and sons Wisam (COO) and Tim (CTO)". Paysavvy rebranded as Rise in 2016 and now trades as Rise People.
What did he do at the company?
He was the technical co-founder. BCBusiness (2016-03-03) says that while his father focused on the platform's architecture and raising money, "Tim has served as the CTO" and Wisam ran branding, sales and marketing. BetaKit's write-up of the Vancouver Tech Podcast (2016-04-13) introduces him as "co-founder of Rise (formerly PaySavvy)", notes his programming past, and has him describing the company's growth from a dozen people to about 60 and its services-based tech stack.
Has Tim Abdulla spoken at TechTO?
No. His brother and co-founder Wisam Abdulla presented "Millennials are Eating the World" at TechVancouver in April 2016, when the company was called Rise.
Where is he based, and what is his role today?
No public page states the person's current role or where he lives. Rise People's Our Story page, checked 2026-10-16, lists Faiz Abdulla as Founder & Co-CEO with Misha Abasov as Co-CEO and names a VP, Engineering, but does not list Tim Abdulla. The company's address on that page is Metrotower 2, 4720 Kingsway, Burnaby, British Columbia; the 2015 BC Tech profile placed Paysavvy in Gastown, Vancouver.
