Axonify is a Waterloo, Ontario company that makes a learning platform for frontline and deskless employees, delivering training in short daily bursts reinforced with games, points and rewards. It was founded in 2011 by Carol Leaman and Christine Tutssel and raised roughly $35M in venture funding, including a $27M growth round led by JMI Equity in 2016. Private-equity firm Luminate Capital Partners acquired the company in April 2021.

Private-equity firm Luminate Capital Partners acquired a controlling stake in April 2021. Axonify then bought Toronto employee-communication startup Nudge in June 2022. The company continues to operate; Melissa Burghardt is CEO, with co-founders Carol Leaman and Christine Tutssel on the board.
Why did Axonify buy Nudge?
To add frontline employee communication to its training platform. Nudge co-founder and CEO Lindsey Goodchild became Axonify's chief strategy officer. Goodchild and Carol Leaman discussed the deal on the TechTO Together stage in November 2022.
