Founded in 2011 in London, Ontario and later Toronto, Big Viking Games set out to lead in free-to-play social and mobile games built on HTML5. As Albert Lai told the TechTO stage in 2017, the studio had been profitable from day one, had about 100 employees and had raised over $20 million, with a company philosophy centred on culture. It built early HTML5 Facebook Instant titles such as Galakrond.
