About
Broken Heart Love Affair was launched in Toronto in March 2020 by five people who had run creative and strategy at large agencies: Jason (Jay) Chaney, Carlos Moreno, Denise Rossetto, Todd Mackie and Beverley Hammond. The premise was speed and creative ambition without the layers of a network shop, and the name is the point — the founders' argument is that most advertising has lost the audience's affection and the job is to win it back. The agency opened in the same week Ontario locked down for COVID-19 and built through it, and has since collected creative awards and employer recognition. Chaney, partner and chief strategy officer, spoke on the TechTO stage earlier in his career for Ad. Vice Inc.
