About

Matthew Rendall, Ryan Gariepy, Pat Martinson and Bryan Webb started Clearpath Robotics out of the University of Waterloo's mechatronics engineering programme in 2009. The company grew two sides: research platforms used by robotics labs worldwide, and OTTO Motors, its autonomous material-handling business for industrial floors. Rockwell Automation acquired it in 2023. Martinson brought the company's product planning approach to the TechWaterloo stage in September 2017.
