Clearspace

Clearspace is a Toronto firm that designs and builds office interiors end to end, from concept through construction to move-in, for landlords, startups and large employers. Mark Goh founded it in 2019 after running the wireless-charging company ChargeSpot, and it works out of its own 11,000-square-foot King East headquarters.

About

Clearspace takes the office build-out — a process normally split between a designer, a general contractor and a project manager — and runs it as one contract. Its own site puts the pitch as "WE DESIGN AND BUILD SPACES MADE TO WORK," handling projects "from concept to execution." The company operates from 1 Adelaide St. E. in Toronto and lists work for Canoe Financial (25,500 sq ft), Hines' T3 Junction (19,500 sq ft) and its own 11,000-square-foot headquarters, with landlord and tenant clients including Hines, Enwave and FinanceIt. Mark Goh founded it in 2019. He had previously founded ChargeSpot, which built wireless charging into desks, boardrooms and hotel nightstands, and ran it as chief executive until 2018; before that he spent eight years in finance at Ernst & Young and CPP Investments. His 2018 TechTO talk was about ChargeSpot nearly running out of cash — he put the actual cash-balance graph on a slide — and about forecasting his way back out of it without outside capital.

Backers

No outside venture funding for the Toronto Clearspace is on the public record. Note that a Swiss space-debris company also called ClearSpace has raised substantial venture capital; funding figures attributed to 'Clearspace' in aggregator databases usually belong to that unrelated firm.
