About
Coconut Software started in 2007 as Coconut Calendar, selling appointment booking to hairdressers and massage therapists while Regnier still had a full-time job. A cold call from Telus asking for scheduling across 400+ locations pushed it into enterprise, and it has since narrowed to banks and credit unions. Regnier bootstrapped it from Saskatoon for years — she told the 2017 TechTO audience she was 'completely against drinking the juice' on venture money — before raising a seed round in October 2016 and a $28M CAD Series B in 2021. The company kept the Coconut name through the rebrand from Coconut Calendar to Coconut Software.

No — it launched as Coconut Calendar and rebranded to Coconut Software as it moved from small businesses to enterprise and financial institutions. Both TechTO talks were given under the Coconut Calendar name.
Who founded Coconut Software and how much has it raised?
Katherine Regnier, who is still CEO. She bootstrapped it until a seed round in October 2016, then raised $4.2M from Toronto investors and a $28M CAD Series B led by Klass Capital in 2021, for $39.4M total as of that round.
