About
Credit Karma was founded on 8 March 2007 by Kenneth Lin, Ryan Graciano and Nichole Mustard, on a model that was unusual at the time: give consumers their credit score and report for free, continuously, and earn revenue by matching them to credit cards and loans they are actually likely to be approved for. Mustard, the third co-founder, built and ran the revenue side as chief revenue officer, negotiating the lender relationships the business depends on. By the time Intuit completed its acquisition in December 2020, Credit Karma had more than 110 million members across the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom. All three founders stayed on after the deal; Mustard has since left. She joined a TechTO FintechTO session in May 2020 on the acceleration of consumer fintech.
Backers
Venture-backed before the acquisition, and now wholly owned by Intuit following the December 2020 close. Pre-acquisition investors are not itemised here.
