About

CryptoChicks began in 2017 as a Toronto meetup run by Elena Sinelnikova and Natalia Ameline for women trying to make sense of blockchain without being the only woman in the room. It grew into a registered non-profit running hands-on workshops, hackathons and mentorship — its programs are open to everyone but recruit women and youth first, on the argument that who learns the technology early determines who builds with it later. The organisation reports chapters and members in 56 countries and has since added CryptoChicks Hatchery and CryptoChicks Academy. Three of its organisers presented the basics of blockchain, and the problems it can and cannot solve, at TechTO's FintechTO blockchain edition in November 2017.
