Digital Health Canada connects the professionals who build and run health technology in Canada — clinicians, informaticians, vendors and administrators — through membership, professional development and events. It was founded in 1975 as the Canadian Organization for Advancement of Computers in Health, adopted the tagline 'Canada's Health Informatics Association' in 2001, and rebranded to Digital Health Canada in 2017. As of 2024 it reported 7,765 individual members and 212 organizational members. Mark Casselman, who led the association as chief executive for nine years until July 2024, took the TechTO Health stage in June 2020 to read the first months of the pandemic for the sector: what COVID-19 had done to health technology adoption and to the healthcare industry that buys it. The association is a professional body rather than a vendor — it does not sell health software, and its role in the ecosystem is convening and credentialing the people who do.
