About
Diligen was one of the earlier Canadian companies to put machine learning to work on contract review. Its software identifies clauses across large document sets, writes summaries and tracks who has reviewed what, for work like M&A due diligence, lease review, LIBOR transition and legacy contract clean-up. Co-founder Laura van Wyngaarden, who runs operations, has described the point of it as leverage: the same shift that let machines extend physical effort now extends mental effort, so a legal team can do a more thorough review in a fraction of the time. The company is independent and based in downtown Toronto.
