About
Ego Death Capital was founded by Jeff Booth, Nico Lechuga and Andi Pitt on a single restriction: it backs companies building in the Bitcoin ecosystem and nothing else. Its own stated targets are Bitcoin's application layers — Lightning, Fedimint, discreet log contracts — rather than the broader crypto market. Fund I raised US$25.2 million plus a US$7.5 million special-purpose vehicle; the firm announced a US$100 million Fund II in January 2024 and closed it eighteen months later, in July 2025, to lead Series A rounds of US$3–8 million. Booth, the Vancouver founder of BuildDirect and author of The Price of Tomorrow, is a founding partner alongside Lechuga, who runs the firm as chief executive, and Pitt, formerly a VP at Goldman Sachs. Lyn Alden, the macro analyst and author of Broken Money, is a general partner. The firm's name is its thesis: it argues the current monetary system is in a phase of self-surrender and transition, and it is investing on the other side of it.
Backers
A venture fund rather than an operating company. Its limited partners are not disclosed on its own site or in the coverage of either fund close.
