About
Employment Hero sells what it calls an employment operating system: hiring, onboarding, HR records, payroll and benefits for small and mid-sized employers, in one place rather than four. Co-founder and chief executive Ben Thompson has described the founding goal, with co-founder Dave Tong, as creating "proud, confident employers who felt well equipped to employ, pay and manage their people." It is one of the few Australian software companies to reach unicorn scale, and said in October 2025 that it had crossed A$300M in annual recurring revenue — a tenfold rise in a little over five years — while supporting 350,000 businesses worldwide and recording its first EBITDA-positive month in December 2024. Canada is its newest region, entered by acquisition: it bought Humi, the Toronto HR, payroll and benefits platform, in January 2025, and launched its own employment operating system in Canada that September. Kevin Kliman, who co-founded Humi in 2016 and ran it as chief executive, is president of the Canadian business, and told BetaKit in December 2025 that the aim was to make it profitable: "The more value we can offer to companies, the faster we're going to be able to grow." BetaKit reported the company at more than 1,700 employees globally at that point.
Backers
Venture-backed and one of a small number of Australian software unicorns; it did not disclose a valuation alongside its October 2025 ARR milestone, and no round is asserted here.
