About

Menashe Kestenbaum stopped teaching Talmud, moved back to Toronto and started blogging about video games, building Nintendo Enthusiast into a set of sites clustered around particular games and platforms. He turned that into Enthusiast Gaming and grew it mostly by acquisition, adding gaming websites, YouTube channels and the EGLX expo in Toronto. The company listed on the TSX Venture Exchange in October 2018, merged with Luminosity Gaming and Aquilini GameCo in September 2019 to form a larger publicly traded esports and gaming media business, and moved its listing to the Toronto Stock Exchange in January 2020. Julia Becker, then head of investor relations and marketing, presented the network to MarketingTO in October 2019: a reach of over 200 million gamers a month across more than a hundred gaming websites, 900 YouTube channels, 50 influencers with a combined 60 million followers, and 30 live events a year — pitched at marketers on the argument that gaming had passed the box office, generating $138 billion in 2018 against $41 billion in film.

Backers

Publicly traded — TSX Venture Exchange from October 2018, Toronto Stock Exchange from January 2020, following the September 2019 merger with Luminosity Gaming and Aquilini GameCo.
