About

The pairing is the pitch: an investor and an operator, rather than two of either. Basu Trivedi co-founded Artsy as an undergraduate and spent eight years at Shasta Ventures, where he led seed and Series A rounds in Canva, Athelas and The Farmer's Dog; Smith was president and chief operating officer of Stitch Fix and before that ran operations at Walmart. Footwork leads or co-leads seed and Series A rounds in companies that already show early signs of product-market fit, and writes between $1M and $15M to start. Fund I closed at $175M at launch in April 2021; Fund II at $225M, and began investing in 2025. As of mid-2026 the firm counts 25 investments, among them Watershed, Tracksuit, GPTZero, Elicit, WindBorne, ReflexAI and Cradlewise. Its office is in San Francisco's Dogpatch.

Backers

A venture firm rather than a funded company; its limited partners are not disclosed.
