About
The firm publishes almost nothing. Its site is a single page whose only substantive statement is its own description of itself: "Experienced operators/investors backing the founders of tomorrow." There is no team page, no portfolio page and no stated fund size — a /team path returns a 404.
What can be said about it comes through its people. Benjamin Hutchinson is a general partner and leads seed rounds. He co-founded Earnest, the student-loan refinancing company acquired by Navient, after working at the UK Treasury during the financial crisis, and later co-founded and was chief operating officer of the crypto trading platform Rocketplace, which ceased operations in 2024. He spoke at a TechVancouver fireside in August 2019, then still known for Earnest, on starting and selling companies.
This page is deliberately short. A firm that says one sentence about itself gets one sentence repeated back, not a filled-out profile built from inference.
Backers
A venture firm; its limited partners, fund size and vintage are not published anywhere this page could read.
Quick answers
What is Four Cities Capital?
A seed-stage venture firm. Its own published description is a single line — experienced operators and investors backing the founders of tomorrow — and it publishes no fund size, portfolio or team page.
Who is behind it?
Benjamin Hutchinson is a general partner and leads seed rounds. He co-founded the student-loan refinancer Earnest and, later, the crypto trading platform Rocketplace.
What does it invest in?
Seed rounds. Beyond the stage, the firm does not publish a sector focus, cheque size or portfolio list, so none is claimed here.
