About
Fuse was founded in 2020 as a spinout of Ignition Partners, the long-running Seattle enterprise firm, with the thesis that the Pacific Northwest deserved a dedicated early-stage lead investor rather than fly-in cheques from the Bay Area. Kellan Carter and Cameron Borumand started it and were joined in 2021 by Brendan Wales, who moved from the Bay Area as the third founding general partner after nine years at e.ventures, now Headline. The firm invests in enterprise and vertical software, artificial intelligence, developer tools, open source, marketplaces and software for small businesses, and puts a network of several hundred operators and executives around its companies. Wales told TechTO in December 2021 that the firm had raised just under $200 million to back technology businesses globally with a Pacific Northwest focus, and that its judgement on small-business software rests on logo growth — how many new customers arrive month over month — rather than on absolute revenue scale. Fuse led the round into Calgary's CostCertified, now Bolster, and had two Vancouver investments and one in Calgary at the time of that conversation.

Quick answers
What does Fuse invest in?
Early-stage B2B and vertical software, developer tools, open source, marketplaces and small-business software, plus AI and hardware-software companies. It invests globally but is anchored in the Pacific Northwest, and it leads rounds.
Who runs Fuse?
Three founding general partners: Kellan Carter, Cameron Borumand and Brendan Wales. Carter and Borumand started the firm as a spinout of Ignition Partners in 2020; Wales joined from the Bay Area in 2021 as the third founding partner.
What is Fuse's Canadian connection?
It backs Canadian companies directly. Wales said on the TechTO stage in December 2021 that Fuse had two investments in Vancouver and one in Calgary, plus Calgary-based co-investors — and Fuse led the round into CostCertified, the Calgary construction-quoting company now called Bolster.
