About

Minerva, founded in Toronto in 2018 by Jennifer Arnold, Victor Tay and Damian Tran, automates the client risk assessment that sits underneath anti-money-laundering compliance. Its platform pulls business registry, sanctions and adverse media data across many languages and returns a risk profile in seconds rather than the hours a manual investigation takes. Arnold, previously senior director of AML transformation at CIBC, led the company as CEO through a CA$2.6 million seed in 2021 led by Fika Ventures and a CA$12 million Series A in 2023 led by FirstMark Capital; Coinbase Ventures and MKT1 are also among its investors. It doubled its customer count to 24 in 2023, mostly US institutions, and has counted Binance Canada, Coinbase and Mogo as clients. The company traded under the name MinervaAI at the time of its 2021 TechTO appearance. Victor Tay is now listed as CEO on the company's leadership page.

Backers
