About

Moz began in 2004 as a marketing analytics subscription and turned into an SEO software business in 2008, becoming one of the better-known names in search marketing. In October 2018 it made its sixth and largest acquisition: STAT Search Analytics, the Vancouver company doing large-scale daily rank tracking and SERP analytics for brands and agencies including eBay, Trivago, 360i and iProspect. Moz retained all fifty STAT employees and used the deal to open a Vancouver presence it then planned to grow. In June 2021 Moz was itself acquired for $67 million by iContact, part of what is now Ziff Davis, forming a combined SEO, email and digital marketing suite for small and mid-sized businesses. Rob Bucci, who founded STAT and presented it at TechVancouver in October 2016, is now Moz's VP of research and development.

Backers

Owned by Ziff Davis since the June 2021 acquisition by its iContact business.
