About
N49P invests at pre-seed, the stage where there is little to underwrite but the founder. Its stated screen reflects that: it seeks "founders who prioritize speed and execution over traditional credentials, building strong teams with a clear vision for the future." The firm's own account of where it came from runs through the community side of Canadian tech — "From launching TechTO and connecting 60,000+ subscribers to leading AngelList Canada" — and its partner Alex Norman co-founded TechTO, the organisation behind this directory.
What it offers alongside the cheque is deliberately hands-on: a founder-led community that runs on an active WhatsApp group, Zooms and events; access to a network of 50-plus experienced operators for strategic guidance and customer introductions; and a team that positions itself as available for "direct, no nonsense advice" on reaching product-market fit. Portfolio companies it publishes case studies on include EvenUp, Safekeep and Aeon, and it labels bets like Synex and Appetronix "moonshots."
On 21 May 2026 N49P announced a US$25 million first close of N49P Fund IV, against a target of US$70 million, with backing from Toronto private-markets firm Northleaf Capital Partners as well as family offices, ultra-high-net-worth individuals and Canadian technology founders. A significant portion of the capital comes from outside Canada. The same announcement confirmed the return of Prem Kalevar as a Venture Partner, deepening the firm's presence across the Toronto-Waterloo corridor.
Backers
Limited partners in Fund IV include Northleaf Capital Partners, alongside family offices, ultra-high-net-worth individuals and Canadian technology founders, with a significant portion of the capital coming from outside Canada. Fund size and LP list beyond Northleaf are not published.
