Nest Wealth

Nest Wealth launched in 2013 as Canada's first digital wealth advisor, founded by Randy Cass. It pivoted from a direct-to-consumer robo-advisor into a B2B platform powering digital wealth for half of Canada's largest six banks, and Objectway acquired it in January 2024. The brand still operates as an Objectway subsidiary.

About

Randy Cass launched Nest Wealth in 2013 as a direct-to-consumer robo-advisor, positioning it against the incumbents. The more durable business turned out to be selling to them: Nest Wealth Pro, launched in 2016, white-labelled the platform for banks and advisors. Cass told the TechTO stage the company reached cash-flow positive in 2016 on just $6M of capital raised. National Bank of Canada invested and later became a major backer. Objectway, the Italy-based wealth-tech group, acquired 100% of the company in January 2024, including National Bank's shares. Cass is no longer with the business, which is now led by an Objectway CEO.

Backers

National Bank of Canada, which invested $6M in 2017 and later an investment worth up to $50M in 2020. Objectway acquired 100% of the company in January 2024, including National Bank's shares. Other investors in the $6M Cass describes on stage are not established.
