About
OPTT sells to healthcare organizations rather than to patients: clinicians assign disease-specific therapy modules, patients work through them on their own schedule, and clinicians review and respond, which is how the platform claims to stretch a limited supply of therapists further. Co-founder and CEO Mohsen Omrani — a medical doctor with a PhD in neuroscience, based in Kingston — described it on the TechTO Health panel in May 2020 as a platform for delivering online psychotherapy targeted at healthcare organizations, with the goal of lowering cost and making mental health care more accessible. He and Queen's psychiatry professor Nazanin Alavi co-developed the tool in 2018; Omrani has been CEO since 2019.
