About

Penta Medical, founded in 2015 in the Waterloo region by Alexa Roeper and Daniel Choi, built PentaVO, a portable software-enabled cold-laser (low-level laser) therapy wearable that delivered treatment and tracked healing, targeting pro sports and orthopedic clinics. It went through Velocity, the Accelerator Centre and Y Combinator (S18) and received FDA clearance in 2018. It appears to have wound down after Roeper moved on in 2024.
