About
Radian Capital invests in founder-led software businesses that grew without much outside money, and says of itself that it does not fund growth at all costs but "growth that counts". Chris Livingston, then a partner at the firm, laid out the reasoning on TechTO's Founders & Funding stage in April 2021: the industry had drifted to writing $10 million cheques into companies with $10 million of ARR, then to larger cheques at lower revenue and higher valuations, leaving founders holding $30 to $50 million they did not need — and funds holding 30 to 50 companies where a handful must carry the rest. Radian's counter-position, as he described it, is a smaller fund concentrated into 10 to 12 companies, with close to half the team working full-time on go-to-market and product alongside those companies rather than on deals. The model has no room for write-offs: he said the fund does not work if companies fail, so capital is reserved for existing portfolio companies and founders are told they never have to raise again. Its investment in the Canadian R&D tax-credit company Boast.AI is the reason the firm appears in the TechTO archive. The firm is led by managing partners Jordan Bettman and Weston Gaddy and is based at 1250 Broadway in New York.

Quick answers
What does Radian Capital invest in?
Growth equity into B2B software companies that got to real revenue without much outside capital. The firm describes itself as backing "founders who've built something special" and funding "growth that counts" rather than growth at all costs, and provides flexible capital including partial liquidity for founders who do not want to lose control.
How concentrated is the portfolio?
Very. On the TechTO stage in April 2021 Chris Livingston put it at 10 to 12 companies per fund — fewer portfolio companies than the firm has employees — and said close to half the team are full-time operators working with those companies on go-to-market and product.
Who leads the firm?
Jordan Bettman and Weston Gaddy are its managing partners. The firm is based in New York and also runs what it calls the ARC team, a group of operating partners who work inside portfolio companies.
Why is Radian Capital in the TechTO archive?
It invested in Boast.AI, the Vancouver company that automates R&D tax credit claims. Livingston appeared alongside Boast co-founder Lloyed Lobo on TechTO's Founders & Funding series in April 2021 to talk through how that round came together.
