About

Warburg Pincus calls itself the pioneer of global growth investing and has been a private partnership since 1966 — a structure it argues gives it "the freedom to do right by our investors and management teams, consistently — unencumbered by outside pressures."

The firm's own headline numbers are 60 years of growth investing, more than $135 billion invested, more than 1,100 companies backed across private equity, real estate and capital solutions, more than $105 billion of assets under management, and about 290 investment professionals globally. It runs what it calls a One Firm model, pulling sector specialists together across its focus areas: business services, capital solutions, consumer, energy transition and sustainability, financial services, healthcare, industrials, partnership solutions, real estate and technology.

Its stated approach is operational rather than financial engineering — the firm says 60% of the portfolio value it has created since its 1998 private equity fund came from increasing operating profits at the portfolio company level, as opposed to leverage or multiple expansion.

Headquarters are in New York, with more than 15 offices globally. The firm also publishes a standing warning that fraudulent activity using its name has been reported in several European markets and India.

Backers

A private partnership, not a backed company. Its capital comes from institutional limited partners, whom the firm does not name publicly.
