About
Daniel Dubois founded ShareShed as a website and mobile app letting people rent outdoor adventure gear from others nearby. He has said the idea came from backpacking in Australia, where borrowing a host family's surfboards and bikes made two broke travellers effectively wealthy. The company won $100,000 in in-kind support by placing first regionally at the EO Global Student Entrepreneur Awards and took a $10,000 entrepreneur-in-residence spot through Hootsuite's Next Big Thing Foundation. Outdoor travel company Leavetown acquired ShareShed and Guiides.com in May 2017, about two months after this talk. No ShareShed product exists today.
