About
Rob Bucci founded STAT Search Analytics in Vancouver's Railtown in 2009 and ran it for nine years without raising money — wholly private, entirely bootstrapped, and profitable. The product tracked search-result rankings at enterprise scale and sold mainly to large in-house SEO teams and agencies; Bucci has said its first big customer, Expedia, arrived in the product's first year on the strength of the technical SEO blog he wrote while building it, and pulled the whole company toward the enterprise. He told that story on the TechVancouver stage in October 2016. Moz announced the acquisition on 10 October 2018, retaining all 50 STAT employees in Vancouver, and Bucci became Moz's vice-president of research and development.
