About

Angella Goran grew up in a single-parent household and learned early what sport costs; TAPanGO is the answer she built to that. The company sells one stack to a community — a club, a league, an event — combining an eWallet members can spend and save from, a rewards programme that pays cash back at participating merchants and lets members redeem it, donate it or send it to each other, and insurance bought on demand for equipment, event cancellation and travel. The branded products are ATHLETICA Rewards and ATHLETICA Protect. Goran, who rowed for Canada's national team and later raced bikes, has described the company as the first neobank in North America founded by a woman. She took the TechTO stage in October 2016 with a talk called Life With Purpose, then about the athletic sock brand SokJok.

Quick answers

What does TAPanGO Technologies do?

It builds banking, rewards and insurance for sport communities: an eWallet, cash-back rewards members can redeem or donate, and on-demand cover for equipment, event cancellation and travel, sold under the ATHLETICA name.

Who founded TAPanGO?

Angella Goran, in Ottawa. She rowed on Canada's national team and later raced bikes, and built the company out of what the cost of sport did to families like hers.

Has TAPanGO taken the TechTO stage?

No. Goran spoke at TechTO in October 2016 for SokJok, the athletic sock brand she founded before this, so TAPanGO's talks list is empty.
