About
Nielsen reached the TechTO stage through Jenny Mabley, VP of consumer panel services, who spoke at TechTO Retail in January 2020 on using sound, music and voice in shopper research — what brands can learn from how people actually hear a store. The company has split twice since. In March 2021 Nielsen completed the sale of its Global Connect business, the consumer-panel and retail-measurement side Mabley works in, to Advent International for US$2.7 billion; that business was renamed NielsenIQ and licensed the Nielsen name for twenty years. In October 2022 the remaining media-measurement company was taken private by an Evergreen Coast Capital and Brookfield consortium at US$28 a share, about US$16 billion including debt, and delisted from the NYSE.
Backers
Privately held since October 2022 by a consortium led by Evergreen Coast Capital, an Elliott Investment Management affiliate, and Brookfield Business Partners. Publicly traded on the NYSE before that.
