About

Andrew Reid founded Vision Critical in 2000 and spent two decades building enterprise survey software before starting Rival Technologies to attack the response-rate problem from the other end: people answer phones, not questionnaires, so Rival runs research as a mobile-first chat — respondents reply by text, voice note or video, and the platform assembles the results. Its own site names John Deere, Brunswick and Coca-Cola among the brands using it. Rival sits inside Rival Group, launched in 2018 by Andrew and Jennifer Reid (as the Reid Campbell Group) with Angus Reid as an investor; the group also owns Reach3 Insights and, following a 2025 merger with Angus Reid Group, describes itself as Canada's largest independent research company. Andrew and Jennifer Reid were appointed co-CEOs of the group. Andrew Reid took the TechVancouver stage in June 2016, before Rival, while he was still running Vision Critical.

Backers

Founder-backed and privately held within Rival Group; the company's own about page names pollster Angus Reid as an investor at the group's 2018 formation. No venture round is disclosed.
