About

Tink started in 2012 as a Swedish personal-finance app and turned into the infrastructure other companies build on: a single API for account aggregation, payment initiation, income and risk checks across European banks. Its own site counts "3,000+ Connections to all major banks across Europe", 19 markets, 13 European offices and 600+ employees.

Visa announced its intention to acquire Tink for EUR 1.8 billion, inclusive of cash and retention incentives, on 24 June 2021, and completed the deal on 10 March 2022. Tink kept its brand, its management team and its Stockholm headquarters, and remains wholly owned by Visa.

Andrew Boyajian is Head of Products for Payments and CX at Tink. He took the TechTO stage in August 2018 as Head of Banking for North America at TransferWise, now Wise — five years before Tink.

Backers

Wholly owned by Visa since March 2022. Before the acquisition Tink raised from investors including Dawn Capital, which wrote publicly about the partnership.
