About

Tribe Capital describes itself as a group of entrepreneurs, operators and data scientists, and invests across stages from San Francisco. Arjun Sethi, Jonathan Hsu and Ted Maidenberg founded it in 2018 after working together at Social Capital, where the quantitative approach to diagnosing product-market fit that Tribe is built on took shape: read a company's own growth and retention data rather than judge it on narrative. The firm says it manages about $2.2 billion. Sethi is chairman and, since October 2024, co-CEO of Kraken; Hsu and Maidenberg are managing directors, and the firm has since added credit and venture arms. Sethi represented Tribe on TechTO's Founders & Funding in January 2021, in a panel on how to angel invest with Farhan Thawar and Eva Lau — booked as a direct response to a widely read essay arguing the Canadian tech scene did not know how to angel invest.

Backers

A venture firm rather than an operating company; its limited partners are not disclosed publicly.
