About

Verto Health builds digital twins of patients — virtual replicas that pull together data from hospital, EMR and lab systems so care teams can track a patient in real time and flag gaps before they become bad outcomes. Founder Michael Millar registered the company in a basement in 2009 but only quit his day job to focus on it full-time in 2017, after a master's in health informatics and years working in hospitals and the Ontario Ministry of Health. During COVID-19 Verto supported vaccine-clinic operations across Ontario, and it has since worked with Fraser Health Authority in B.C. on population-health management. Millar has described Verto as a "digital twin company" that can read ten years of records and produce a 30-second summary for a clinician.

Backers

Raised a C$2M seed in 2020 led by MaRS Investment Accelerator Fund, with Verstra Ventures and Amplify Capital. Also a CAN Health Network partner (2020).
