About
Astraea Bio works in spatial biology: the study of where cells, tissues and molecules sit in relation to each other within a tissue sample, and what that arrangement reveals. The company builds product solutions to demystify imaging data, combining biology, physics, mathematics, computer science and engineering to visualize and analyze those spatial relationships for customers who need the answers rather than the raw images. It was formerly named Pathomics and narrowed its focus from digital pathology into spatial biology. Co-founder and vice-president Trevor McKee holds a PhD in bioengineering from MIT and spent fourteen years directing the image-analysis core at the STTARR Innovation Centre, leading a team building quantitative analysis methods for spatial biology datasets across brightfield, multiplex and imaging mass cytometry. He has taken TechTO stages twice: a fifteen-minute talk on the future of spatial biology at Health Toronto in November 2025, and a ten-second community-mic pitch at Together Toronto, where he used his ten seconds to point the room at a spatial-biology event rather than at his own company.
