About
Blossom Social exists because of what the alternative looked like. Maxwell Nicholson had the idea in 2021, the year of GameStop and Wall Street Bets, and built the opposite: a network where a user links their brokerage account, and their posts, holdings and trades are verified against what they actually own. That verification is the product difference from a Reddit or an X, and it selects for a different crowd — the community skews to long-term investors and index and ETF holders rather than day traders. Nicholson left McKinsey to start it and co-founded the company with Annika Ng, Kartik Bhutani and Brandon Beavis, a Canadian investing YouTuber who first invested $50,000 and then joined, bringing an audience with him. By early 2026 Fintech Growth Insider reported roughly 160,000 monthly active users, $3.8 million in annual revenue, about $500,000 a year of that from the newsletter, and around $4 billion in linked assets, roughly 60 percent held in ETFs. Nicholson told the TechTO Canadian Rocketships finale in December 2025 that fear of competition nearly killed the company in its first year, and that Canadian founders should treat the global market as their arena rather than each other.
Backers
About $7 million raised to date, including equity crowdfunding and a $750,000 pre-seed. Co-founder Brandon Beavis first came in as a $50,000 investor, and Shay Huang was an early investor. Institutional investors are not named by the source.
