About
Zoom.ai launched into a market that did not yet exist for it: an automated assistant you chatted with, which knew your calendar and your company's documents and did work on your behalf. It first found users on Skype, which brought it to Microsoft's attention, and it became one of the first third-party partners on Microsoft Teams. Over time the product narrowed to the one job it did best — scheduling meetings — and rebranded as CalendarHero. Vendasta acquired it in October 2021, and Pereira went on to found Unified.to. His TechTO talk in February 2017, twelve months into the company, compared running a startup in 2009 to running one in 2016: building had got dramatically cheaper, funding was easier to find, and Toronto's talent was the constant.
