7shifts is a restaurant team-management platform based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, founded in 2014 by Jordan Boesch with Andrée Carpentier and Johannes Lindenbaum. It handles scheduling, shift communication, tip management and labour compliance for restaurants. Boesch told the TechTO Together stage in 2021 that it began as a nights-and-weekends side project to fix the scheduling headache at his father's Quiznos franchises: he taught himself to code, sold early versions by walking printed screenshots into restaurants, and went through the Boost VC accelerator (run by Adam and Tim Draper) in San Francisco. The hard call that made the company was cutting two-thirds of its non-restaurant customers to focus only on restaurants. 7shifts is used by tens of thousands of restaurants and roughly one in nine restaurant workers in North America.

Boesch said on the TechTO stage that 7shifts went through the Boost VC accelerator (run by Adam and Tim Draper) and raised early money there, and that its seed round was led by Relay Ventures in Toronto — an investor in TouchBistro.
