About
Russ Heddleston sold DocSend to Dropbox for US$165M in 2021 after taking it past $40M in annual recurring revenue, and had earlier sold the HR startup Pursuit to what is now Meta. Distill is what he built next, with Tim Su — founder of the Y Combinator company Tandem, who sold the task app Astrid to Yahoo — as co-founder and chief technology officer. The product is outreach: it drafts the messages founders and executives send to people they do not know, and the pitch on its own site is defensive rather than expansive — it will not make you look foolish and it will not sound like AI. Heddleston joined TechTO Together in February 2024.

Who founded Distill?
Russ Heddleston, who founded DocSend and sold it to Dropbox for US$165M, and Tim Su, who founded Tandem and sold Astrid to Yahoo. Su is chief technology officer.
Has Distill taken the TechTO stage?
No. It is in this directory because Heddleston joined TechTO Together in February 2024, so its talks list is empty.
